Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses? Or one 500 KG duck?
First off, I've never fought an animal in my life, and I don't plan to. We're assuming this question is pure battle royale, and only one victor can exit the arena alive.
I'm also not going to assume I have the luxury of choosing my battlefield. We're going to imagine this ruckus takes place in a 100x100 square foot plane. Minimal elevation change. Maybe a few pieces of cover. I'm also not going to make the assumption I get any weapons like a Sunami pocketknife or a big stick. The big stick would really come in handy here.
With that in mind, would I fight 100 duck-sized horses or 1 500 kg horse-sized duck? Let's take a look at what I perceive to be their strengths and weaknesses.
Obviously, the duck sized horses have numbers. They are intelligent animals, though easily spooked. They are fast and have endurance. It's not the easy slam duck you would think it is (pun intended).
The gigantic duck, to me, causes way more problems. This editor is from the Midwest. I've seen geese and know how deceptively dangerous they are. You look at geese and think they're majestic creatures, but they look at humans and think, "You come around here and catch these wings." I have to imagine a duck would have the same ill temperament that a goose would in "fight mode". I think the fact that the duck is bigger and badder than usual would affect its ability for flight and others. I'm imagining this fight would go like Mario vs. Bowser in Super Mario 64. I'd have to run circles tiring the gigantic duck out before I could get in and start using hand to hand combat.
But the real question is what I'm most comfortable with. Though I think the duck can catch these fists, I think I would rely on my soccer and tennis training from my youth and focus on the lateral movement and kicking ability needed in order to punt the mini horses into oblivion.
I'll take the horses, final answer.
